The National Opera of Bucharest
Opera Națională The National Opera of Bucharest is one of the four national operas in Romania, being the largest lyric theater in the country. The establishment of the Romanian Opera as an independent institution funded from the state budget was achieved only in 1921. The absolute premiere was held with the opera Lohengrin under the baton of George Enescu. The authorities then oscillated between periods in which they funded the Opera directly and others in which they entrusted it by concession to private individuals. The National Opera adopted a heraldic emblem and a logo in Latin: ARS GRATIA ARTIS,  which means art for art's sake. The current building of the Romanian Opera, with a capacity of 952 seats, was built in 1953, according to the plans of architect Octav Doicescu. It was inaugurated in 1954, with the performance The Queen of Spades, an opera by Tchaikovsky. In the park in front of the building, there is a bronze sculpture of the great musician George Enescu. Also in front of the building, there is the bust of composer Gheorghe Stephanescu, founder of the Romanian Opera. Divaro Company recommends the National Opera of Bucharest!
