King Michael I of Romania Park
King Michael I of Romania Park, also known in the past as Herastrau Park, is a large recreational area in the capital. It is located in the north, bordered by Prezan Constantin Boulevard, Aviatorilor Boulevard, Nordului Road, Bucharest-Ploiesti Road and King Michael I Road. Before 1930, the area where the park stands today was a marshland zone, later drained. Homes were expropriated to make way in 1939 for the largest green space of those times in Bucharest. The projects for this park were created by the architects Ernest Pinard and Friedrich Rebhuhn. In 1951, the park was expanded and reinaugurated in its current form. In 1936, Professor Dimitrie Gusti proposed the establishment of the Village Museum on the shore of Lake Herastrau. The Herastrau Summer Theatre, located next to the Village Museum, was built in 1956. The park's vegetation consists of a variety of deciduous trees and shrubs - maples, ashes, poplars, willows, lindens - and conifers. The park also contains protected trees, such as Tagore's oak, planted on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore's birth. Also, in spring, the flowering cherry trees in the Japanese Garden, donated by the Emperor of Japan, offer a spectacle of colors to nature lovers. In the park, there grows a variety of Japanese acacia with weeping branches and leaves spotted with white. Its total area is 187 ha. The lake in the center of the park is part of the chain of artificial lakes of the Colentina River. The park alley that surrounds the lake has a length of 5.92 km. The park was declared a historical monument in importance class A. Divaro Company recommends   King Michael I of Romania Park for recreation and entertainment!
