Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences!
In 2006, 100 years had passed since Radulescu-Motru, a disciple of Wund, founded the experimental psychology laboratory in Bucharest. It had scientific and teaching functions. The first psychology and pedagogy courses were taught at the University of Bucharest as early as the end of the 19th century. From an institutional point of view, the University's old Pedagogical Seminar was transformed, after 1948, into an independent faculty. In 1977, by a decision of the former political regime, the faculty's specializations, along with sociology, were removed from the structure of higher education. In 1990, the Faculty of Sociology, Psychology, Pedagogy and Social Work was established. In 2000, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences was created, separate from the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work. The faculty has a strong institutional structure, made up of seven departments, and offers initial training programs in four professional areas. In addition to these, it provides certification for a teaching career, runs seven master's programs, and has developed a doctoral school. The available human and technical potential is considerable. Of the total teaching staff, over 80% hold a PhD in sciences, and 14 professors supervise specialized doctorates. The building has laboratories with appropriate technical equipment and centers for research, development, and consultancy. Among the great personalities who taught or were trained here are Radulescu-Motru, Mihail Ralea, and Gheorghe Zapan. Also, Paul Popescu-Neveanu, Petre Pufan, Stanciu Stoian, Dimitrie Teodoran, Mielu Zlate, and Ion Gh. Stanciu also passed through here.
