Baneasa Neighborhood
The Baneasa neighborhood is located in the northern part of the Municipality of Bucharest, near the lake of the same name. The neighborhood, formerly called the “suburban commune of Baneasa,” originated on a portion of the old estate of Maria Bibescu. Its name comes from that of Ban Mares from the 17th century. Maria Bibescu was the great-granddaughter of Ienachita Vacarescu and the daughter of Gheorghe Bibescu, ruler of Wallachia, during the 1848 revolution. The ruler had begun building an imposing palace in Baneasa, but the outbreak of the revolution and his departure from the country stopped the construction. Important landmarks are located in the area, such as Baneasa Airport, the Romaero Complex, Casa Pinca, and the former racehorse stables. Also in the area are the Royal Railway Station, the Baneasa Forest, and Lake Baneasa. Also worth mentioning are the monument "The Capital's Last Sentinel," the Baneasa Shopping Complex, and the headquarters of the Romanian Civil Aeronautical Authority. Marshal Antonescu's residence and the "Minovici Villa" are points of attraction for tourists who wish to discover the capital's tumultuous history. Divaro Company recommends the Baneasa Neighborhood for real estate investments!
